First Opinion Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice with Referral-Level Facilities
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a passionate and client-focused Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly, independent, family-run practice in Greater Manchester. This hospital-based team combines first opinion care with the advanced facilities and expertise of a referral centre, creating an environment where vets can thrive both clinically and personally.
About the Practice
This RCVS-accredited hospital is family-owned and operated, ensuring genuine independence and a warm, supportive ethos. The practice has proudly achieved multiple “Outstanding” awards from the RCVS, a testament to its commitment to exceptional standards and compassionate care.
The facilities are second to none: in-house MRI, CT, colour Doppler ultrasound, video endoscopy, DR X-ray suite, and three fully equipped theatres, all conveniently located on one level. But it’s not just about the technology — it’s about the people. The team is known for its collaboration, positivity, and strong sense of community, consistently reflected in their excellent client reviews.
The Role
Due to ongoing growth, the team is now looking for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join their dynamic group of 8 vets, 14 RVNs, and 4 receptionists. This is an ideal opportunity for a vet who enjoys variety and values high clinical standards, with the support and mentorship to develop further.
The role would particularly suit someone who:
Communicates clearly and builds trust with clients and colleagues
Enjoys working up cases thoroughly and delivering exceptional patient care
Wants access to advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities while maintaining first opinion variety
Appreciates being part of a team that values collaboration, professional growth, and wellbeing
Likes having control over their diary and protected admin time
You’ll be encouraged to develop your skills in your preferred areas — whether that’s surgery, medicine, or imaging — with access to certificate holders in surgery, dermatology, and imaging on-site for support and knowledge sharing.
What’s on Offer
4-day working week
1 in 7 Saturdays, with no out-of-hours
Competitive salary and pension package
Accommodation available
Protected admin time and a flexible diary
Comprehensive CPD support with funding for further qualifications
Supportive, experienced team in a collaborative and encouraging environment
This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to be part of a practice that truly values its people, prioritises work-life balance, and empowers vets to grow.
