This role is ideal for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon looking to advance their career in a dynamic and supportive environment. The position involves a mix of surgical, consulting, and inpatient care duties, ensuring a varied and fulfilling work schedule. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a highly skilled team, regularly managing complex cases such as caesareans, pyometra, exploratory laparotomy with enterotomy and enterectomy.
The RCVS accredited hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide the highest standard of emergency care. Facilities include Procyte haematology, EPOC, digital X-ray, advanced ultrasound with Doppler, flexible video gastroscope, bronchoscope, video otoscope, rigid scope, dental X-ray, multiparameter monitors and more.
A variety of shifts are offered to enhance your exposure to different cases:
- 1 surgical shift (general practice)
- 1 consulting shift (30-minute sick pet consultations as standard, general practice)
- 2 late inpatient shifts (ending at 10pm) - inpatient/ECC shift (including hospital handover, inpatient care, emergency transfers, ECC procedures/surgery, sick pet emergency consultations)
Additional Benefits:
- £1,500 Annual CPD allowance
- In-house support from certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry
- Advanced training and support for a variety of procedures (list available).
Skills and Experience Required:
- Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in emergency and critical care
- Strong surgical and medical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to continuous professional development
