We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a leadership role at our client's well-established RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital. This role is ideal for a confident vet ready to take the next step in their career or an experienced lead vet seeking a dynamic and supportive environment.
About the Role:
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the clinical team, ensuring high standards of patient care, and driving the growth of veterinary services. Working closely with the Clinical Director, you will be responsible for:
- Leading & mentoring the veterinary team, supporting their professional development.
- Ensuring clinical excellence through participation in audits, patient safety evaluations, and RCVS practice standards compliance.
- Providing exceptional client care while promoting the practice’s high-quality services.
- Managing and supporting the nursing and client care teams alongside senior leadership.
- Balancing clinical & leadership responsibilities, with protected non-clinical time each week for management duties.
While previous leadership experience is an advantage, it is not essential. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious vet eager to step into a management position with full support.
About the Practice:
This single-site hospital has a strong reputation for delivering accessible, high-quality veterinary care and fostering a friendly, collaborative workplace.
The team includes 8.5 FTE vets supported by an outstanding nursing and client care team. They are proud to have Certificate holders across multiple disciplines, including Dermatology, Feline Medicine, Small Animal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Surgery, and Diagnostic Imaging.
The practice boasts:
- Four spacious consultation rooms
- Two fully equipped surgical theatres
- Dedicated imaging and dental suites
- Separate dog, cat, and isolation wards
- State-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical equipment
There is a fantastic workplace culture, with low staff turnover and a strong emphasis on teamwork, professional growth, and enjoying the job. The team enjoys social events and a positive, supportive atmosphere.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a proactive and confident vet who:
- Is eager to lead, mentor, and inspire a clinical team.
- Can manage sole-charge responsibilities when required.
- Has strong clinical decision-making skills and takes ownership of cases.
- Is commercially aware and wants to shape and grow the practice, recruiting and mentoring future team members.
