Twilight Veterinary Surgeon - Join a Supportive and Experienced ECC Team

Are you a passionate Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in Emergency and Critical Care. This is your chance to become part of an exceptional night team at a renowned veterinary hospital in Cambridgeshire. This role promises not only professional growth but also a supportive and friendly environment where your skills and dedication will be highly valued.

Why This Role Stands Out:

You'll be joining a team of four incredible night vets, including an ECC certificate holder, two experienced Night RVNs, and a twilight nurse. This collaborative environment ensures that you will always have the support and camaraderie of like-minded professionals. The twilight shifts run from 4pm to midnight, Monday to Friday, focusing on inpatient care, emergency consultations, and procedures. This role is ideal for an experienced ECC vet looking to transition away from night shifts or for someone eager to deepen their ECC expertise through case discussions with seasoned colleagues.

The Team and Culture:

At this hospital group, the team is more than just colleagues; they are a family. The practice boasts a diverse and highly qualified clinical team, with many holding certificates in medicine, surgery, cardiology, and ECC, including two Advanced Practitioners in medicine. The culture here is one of continuous learning and mutual support, with regular Clinical Club meetings and M&M sessions to foster professional development.

Flexible Working Patterns:

The standard working pattern is 4pm to midnight, Monday to Friday, every other week. However, there is flexibility to explore alternative rota patterns, including additional weekend daytime ECC shifts or extra weekday shifts during off weeks.

About them:

This hospital group is a bustling 24-hour Primary Care, RCVS-accredited small animal hospital with five branch surgeries and a state-of-the-art physiotherapy/hydrotherapy centre. Based in a historic town in Cambridgeshire just 20 minutes from Cambridge city centre and 90 minutes from central London. With over 100 years of history, the practice is currently undergoing exciting redevelopment, enhancing its already excellent facilities and equipment. The out-of-hours service is a point of pride, maintaining high standards of care overnight with a dedicated night team.

Community and Social Engagement:

They are deeply embedded in the local community, regularly participating in local events and charity fundraisers. The team enjoys various social events, from summer gatherings and impromptu lunchtime barbeques to the much-anticipated annual Christmas party.

Benefits:

- Salary up to £65,000 pro-rata (depending on experience)
- CPD allowance of £1,500 with 5 CPD days per annum (pro-rated for part-time)
- 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays (pro-rata) + Birthday Leave
- BSAVA membership
- Over 120 hours of additional, in-house, free online courses/content
- Relocation package
- RCVS and VDS fees paid
- Extensive free CPD programmes
- Career progression opportunities
